#Honkfic - 2026.05.22

One of the users of the Canadian built social media app “Gander” started a daily microfiction challenge called #Honkfic. Everyday she provides a one word prompt, and other users have a total of 300 characters (not words) to tell a story using said prompt in a post.

On Friday May 22nd the prompt was #boost. Here is my entry:

Moonlight gleamed off the metal dumpster.
“Give me a #boost!” The journalist whispered. Her foot met interlocked fingers and she stepped up, hands landing on a concrete windowsill. Through the dirtied glass she saw it: proof of the robot army being raised to deliver humanity’s final blow.
